The coastal plain on the east coast of North America. It includes areas from New England to the Atlantic coastal plain, the Florida peninsula, and the Gulf of Mexico coastal plain, and reaches the Yucatan Peninsula. Its width reaches up to 800 km. It was formed by the uplift of marine strata from the Cretaceous to the Pleistocene periods, and the strata of clay, sand, limestone, etc. slope gently toward the coast. It is low-lying, with many marshes and coastal states along the coast. Fall Fjord cities developed in the areas bordering the Appalachian Mountains, and urbanization and industrialization progressed early on.
