abrasion platform

…Below the cliff that retreats due to wave erosion, a gently sloping surface of bedrock eroded by the waves is left. This is called an abrasion platform, and is the opposite of an abrasion cliff. If the ground is stable, as the erosion progresses, the gently sloping abrasion platform will spread out toward the ocean, resulting in the creation of a continental shelf.
