A mountain in the north-central part of New Hampshire in the United States. It is 1,917m above sea level and is located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. It is the highest peak in New England. It was developed as a tourist destination in the 1850s, and a road was opened in 1862, followed by the Abt Cog Railway with steam locomotives in 1869, making it a popular destination for tourists all year round. There is a hotel and a weather station at the summit. The summit is known for its strong winds, with a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 103.2m/s having been recorded.
