Compiled by Tokugawa Mitsukuni. One volume each of the opening and catalogue, 510 volumes of main text, and three volumes of illustrations. A comprehensive collection of 234 items on regular and special court ceremonies, compiled from 233 records from various families from 930 (Encho 8) to 1532 (Tenbun 1). Mitsukuni wanted to create a collection of records he had collected for the compilation of Dai Nihonshi and to make them available to the Imperial Court. In 1682 (Tenwa 2), he submitted a petition to the Imperial Court and received the approval of Emperor Reigen. The following year, he received an official imperial order to begin the compilation, and it was completed in 1701 (Genroku 14). It was presented to the Imperial Court and the shogunate in 1710 (Hoei 7). The title was also named by the same emperor. The completion of this book had an enormous influence, on the one hand giving rise to the "Reigi Ruiten Shuui," which is a collection of records not cited in this book, and on the other hand giving rise to similar comprehensive works such as the "Gunki Ruikan" and "Chogi Burui."
