A type of decorative pattern. It is typical of the Yayoi period, and is often seen on pottery and bronze bells, and is also often used on wooden products. It is a flowing pattern of flowing water drawn continuously horizontally or vertically in an S-shape, with a refined symmetrical beauty, and in later periods it transformed into a modified flowing water pattern. It was in the early modern period that it became widely used as a design for dyed and woven products, and examples of this include Kanze-mizu, fan-shaped flowing fan, and chrysanthemum water pattern, and water was often added as a realistic pictorial pattern.
