A Chinese eunuch in the mid-Ming Dynasty. Born in Xingping (Shaanxi Province). His real surname was Dan. He took his surname from serving Liu, a middle official. He was a close aide to Emperor Zhengde (Wuzong) from his time as the Eastern Palace, and rose to become the Siligian and Commander-in-Chief of the Regiments. He tempted the emperor to indulge in pleasure, disrupting politics, and once he had real power, he resorted to bribery. In addition to the Eastern and Western Arsenals, he established a new secret agency called the Inner Arsenal, and subjected opponents to harsh punishment, forcing even princes, marquises, and xunqi to kneel before him. In the 5th year of the Zhengde era (1510), his grave crimes were exposed, and he was crucified for treason. It is said that 12 million taels of gold and 250 million taels of silver were confiscated from his personal property.

中国，明中期の宦官。興平 (陝西省) の人。本姓は談。中官劉某に仕えてその姓を受けた。正徳帝 (武宗) の東宮時代からの側近で，司礼太監兼団営総督に進み，帝を逸楽に誘って政治を乱し，政治の実権を握ると収賄政治を事とした。これまでの東廠，西廠のほか新たに内行廠の特務機関を設け，反対者を酷刑に陥れ，公侯勲戚も彼の前に跪拝する状況であった。正徳5 (1510) 年彼の大罪があばかれ，謀反のかどで磔刑に処された。没収された私財は黄金 1200万両，銀2億 5000万両もあったという。
