French lexicographer. Born into a family of lawyers, he qualified as a lawyer himself, but was more interested in classical languages, Italian, and Spanish, and enjoyed teaching the children of the nobility. He was involved with Parisian writers such as Patin and Daubignac, and was also devoted to the study of the language. He wrote dictionaries of rhyme, poetics, and elementary grammar books, but his most important work is the French Dictionary, published in Geneva in 1680. Richele tried to collect a wide range of words and expressions in this dictionary, and although there are some parts that boldly use slang expressions and slander opponents such as Furtiere, the dictionary as a whole adheres to the policy of a normative dictionary that clearly defines words while referring to examples from contemporary writers such as Malherbe and Pascal.

フランスの辞書編纂家。弁護士の家系に生まれ，みずからもその資格を取得したが，むしろ古典語やイタリア語，スペイン語に興味をもち，好んで貴人の子弟の教師などを務めた。パタン，ドービニャック師らパリの文人と交わり，かたわら国語研究に没頭した。脚韻辞典，詩法，初等文法書の著述があるが，業績の中心をなすのは，1680年ジュネーブ発行の《フランス語辞典Dictionnaire française》である。リシュレはこの辞書で多角的な語･表現の収集に努めたが，俗語表現の思いきった採用や，フュルティエールら論敵を中傷する筆致が部分的にはみられるものの，全体としてみれば，マレルブ，パスカルら同時代作家の文例を仰ぎつつ語の定義を明確に行うという規範的辞書の方針が貫かれている。
