A Korean civil servant and scholar of practical learning in the mid-Yi dynasty. His pen name was Yunkyung and his pen name was Jibong. He was from Jeonju. During the difficult times of invasion by Japan and the Qing, he held many government positions, including defense envoy, capital governor, and head of Komunkan, and made many achievements. He traveled to Beijing three times as an envoy, and brought new knowledge to Korea, including the introduction of Matteo Ricci's "The True Meaning of Heaven" (Catholicism) and an introduction to Annam (Vietnam) through a dialogue with an envoy from Annam. His wide-ranging knowledge and knowledge were compiled in the 3,435-item "Jibong Ruisetu" and "Jibongshu," and became one of the driving forces behind the rise of practical learning.

朝鮮，李朝中期の文臣，実学者。字は潤卿，号は芝峰。全州の人。日本や清の侵略に会う多難な時代に防禦使や都承旨，弘文館提学など数々の官職を歴任し多くの業績をあげた。使臣として3回北京に旅行し，マテオ･リッチの《天主実義》(天主教)の紹介，安南国使との問答による安南(ベトナム)の紹介など新しい知見を朝鮮にもたらした。彼の広い学問と見聞は3435項目からなる《芝峰類説》や《芝峰集》に収められ，実学勃興の原動力の一つとなった。
