In ancient Hebrew mythology, the Garden of Eden refers to the paradise where Adam and Eve, the first humans created by God, were first made to live (Genesis, Chapters 2-3, Old Testament). However, Adam and Eve disobeyed God's command and ate the fruit of the "tree of knowledge of good and evil," and were banished from there. It is said that this is why death entered humanity. Based on this story, the "Garden of Eden" was later used theologically and symbolically to mean "heaven," "utopia," "a state without sin or evil," and so on. The other image is the place from which the first humans sinned (original sin) and were banished. In Christianity, it is particularly associated with the latter, and "salvation" is often interpreted as the restoration of the state of the Garden of Eden before the Fall of Sin. The origin of the word Eden is unknown, but the word paradise comes from the Greek translation of the Garden of Eden.
