Anglo-Irish Treaty

Japanese: 英愛条約 - えいあいじょうやく(英語表記)Anglo‐Irish Treaty
Anglo-Irish Treaty
A treaty signed on December 6, 1921 between a delegation of the Irish National Assembly and a delegation of the British government. It ended the Irish War of Independence, which began in January 1919 (truce in July 1921), and stipulated that Ireland would retain the same status as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as a dominion within the British Empire, and would be called the Irish Free State. However, the Northern Ireland Assembly, which had already been inaugurated in June 1921 based on the Government of Ireland Act enacted in December 1920, continued to exist, and it stipulated that the border between the north and south would be re-established by a Border Commission consisting of one representative from each side, plus a chairman appointed by the British government.
