Japanese: ランポン族 - ランポンぞく（英語表記）Lampung

A general term for the people who have long lived in Lampung province, at the southern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia. They speak a Malay-based language. This does not include the Javanese people who moved to this area since the beginning of the 20th century due to government immigration policies. The Lampung people were once ruled by the Banten Kingdom in West Java, but no indigenous ruling power was established. The four main tribes, the Abung (living in central and eastern Lampung), the Pamingir (on the southern coast), the Pubian (central Lampung), and the Malingay (eastern Lampung), have maintained their own unique existence while continuing to fight each other.

インドネシア，スマトラ南端のランポン州に古くから居住する人々の総称。マレー語系の言葉を話す。20世紀初頭以来，政府の移民政策によりこの地に移り住んだジャワ族の人々は含まれない。ランポン族は一時西ジャワのバンテン王国の支配をうけたが，土着の支配的権力の成立は見られず，アブン族(中央および東ランポンに居住)，パミンギル族(南部海岸地帯)，プビアン族(中央ランポン)，マリンゲイ族(東ランポン)の4主要種族が対立抗争を続けながら，独自の存在を保ってきた。
