Randen

A county in central Shaanxi Province, China. It is part of Xi'an City. It has a population of 654,500 (2014). The county government is located on Languan Street. It is located in the southeastern suburbs of Xi'an, upstream of the Huanghe River, on the loess plateau at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain. Beautiful jade is called indigo, and it is said that the county name comes from the fact that it is produced in the nearby mountains. The road that crosses the Qinling Mountains from the southeast of the county through Lantian Pass is one of the key routes from Guanzhong to Hubei. Wheat and corn are produced in the plains, while tungsten, sumac, and medicinal materials are produced in the mountains. It is mainly agricultural, and industrialization is lagging behind.

There are historical sites such as Jōgegoshinji Temple and Suiriku-an, and the Pleistocene (Pleistocene) human fossil discovered in 1963-1964 is famous as the Lamtian Man.

中国、陝西(せんせい)省中部の県。西安(せいあん)市に属する。人口65万4500（2014）。県政府所在地は藍関(らんかん)街道。西安の南東郊外、㶚河(はが)の上流、終南山(しゅうなんざん)山麓の黄土(こうど)台地上に位置する。玉(ぎょく)の美しいものを藍といい、この付近の山でそれを産するところから県名ができたという。県の南東より藍田関を通って秦嶺(しんれい)山脈を越える道は、関中(かんちゅう)より湖北(こほく)へ至る要路の一つである。平野部では小麦、トウモロコシなどを、山地ではアブラギリ、ウルシ、薬材などを産する。農業中心で、工業化は遅れている。

　上下悟真寺(じょうげごしんじ)、水陸庵(あん)などの史跡があるほか、1963～1964年に発見された洪積世（更新世）の人類化石は、藍田原人として有名である。
