Sword-Giving Guard - Jyutoei
〘Noun〙 An office established in the third year of the Tenpyo Houji era ( 759 ). It was responsible for guarding the Imperial Palace with soldiers. It was the successor to the Bureau of Sword-Giving Toneri, and was renamed Konoefu in the first year of the Tenpyo Jingo era ( 765 ). ※Shoku Nihongi - Tenpyo Houji 3rd year (759), December 12th, Kogo: " Two sword-giving guards were established. Its officials: one superintendent, a junior fourth-rank officer; one assistant, a senior fifth-rank officer."
