[Born] Tenmei 4 (1784) [Died] 1849. Edo Kabuki actor. Stage name Otowaya. Adopted son of the first Onoe Matsusuke. Former name Matsusuke II. In 1815, he succeeded to the third name. He played leading roles and also played female roles. He excelled in live comedy, and gained fame for his work on ghost stories by Tsuruya Nanboku. A great actor of the Bunka era.
