La Granja (English spelling)

Japanese: ラ･グランハ（英語表記）La Granja

This villa was built by King Philip V of Spain (reigned 1700-46). It is located about 60 km north of Madrid, at an altitude of 1,200 m north of the Sierra de Guadarrama, near the pine forest of Valsáin, which had been the king's hunting ground since the 15th century. In 1720, Philip V purchased a priory and accommodation facilities owned by the Parral Monastery (Hieronymites) in Segovia, and built a villa and gardens modeled after the Palace of Versailles. From then on, court life took place in Aranjuez in the spring, La Granja in the summer, and El Escorial in the fall.

スペイン王フェリペ5世(在位1700‐46)が造った離宮。マドリードから北へ約60km，グアダラマ山脈の北の標高1200m，15世紀以来国王の狩猟地であったバルサインの松林の近くにある。セゴビアのパラル修道院(ヒエロニムス会)所有の小修道院と宿泊施設を1720年にフェリペ5世が買い取って，ベルサイユ宮殿を模した離宮と庭園を造営した。これ以後，宮廷の生活は春はアランフエス，夏はラ･グランハ，秋はエル･エスコリアルで行われるようになった。
