Yobuko [town] - Yobuko

Japanese: 呼子[町] - よぶこ

An old town occupying the northern tip of the Higashi Matsuura Peninsula in Higashi Matsuura District, Saga Prefecture. Yobuko Port is a good natural harbor with Kabe Island in front of it, and in the past it was an important transportation hub between Iki, Tsushima, and the mainland, and later developed as a whaling base. In recent years it has become the center of coastal fishing. The coast is included in Genkai Quasi-National Park, and it is also a base for marine sightseeing and coastal shipping routes. In January 2005, it was incorporated into Karatsu City along with Hamatama Town, Iki Town, Ochi Town, Hizen Town, Chinzei Town, and Kitahata Village in Higashi Matsuura District. 7.27 ^km2 . 6,257 people (2003).

佐賀県東松浦郡，東松浦半島の北端を占める旧町。呼子港は前面に加部(かべ)島をもつ天然の良港で，古くは壱岐，対馬，大陸との交通要地で，のち捕鯨基地として発達。近年は沿岸漁業の中心。海岸は玄海国定公園に含まれ，海上遊覧，沿岸航路の基地でもある。2005年１月東松浦郡浜玉町，厳木町，相知町，肥前町，鎮西町，北波多村と唐津市へ編入。7.27km²。6257人（2003）。
