Otogi-zoshi. One of the Shibukawa versions. Saito Takiguchi Tokiyori of Sanjo, who was sent as an emissary to the palace of Kenreimon-in, fell in love at first sight with a beautiful lady named Yokobue, and expressed his feelings in a waka poem. They exchanged letters many times and made a promise to each other, but Takiguchi refused to listen to his father who tried to drive them apart, and was disowned. After wrestling with whether to be filial to his parents or break his promise, he decided to become a monk and left Yokobue. Yokobue, who was unaware of this and was waiting for the man in vain, one day heard about Takiguchi through rumors and went looking for Ojo-in Temple in Sagano, hoping to meet him for a moment.
