Okjeo - Good

The name of an ancient tribe in northeastern Korea and their habitation. According to the "Wei Zhi Dongwokjeo Biography," the region was long from north to south, bordering Yilou and Buyeo in the north and Wimaek in the south. There were 5,000 households, no overlord, each village had a chief, and their language was almost the same as that of Goguryeo. At the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, they were subordinate to Weishi Joseon, but when Emperor Wu established four commanderies (108 BC), they came under the control of Xuantu Commandery. Later, they became subordinate to Goguryeo, but their habitation was devastated in the aftermath of the attack on Goguryeo by Guanqiu Jian of Wei (244, 245).

朝鮮北東部の古代民族とその居住地の名。『魏志東沃沮伝(ぎしとうよくそでん)』によれば、地形は南北に長く、北は挹婁(ゆうろう)、夫余(ふよ)、南は濊貊(わいばく)に接し、戸数は5000戸で、大君主はいず、邑(ゆう)ごとに長帥（首長）がいて、言語は高句麗(こうくり)とほぼ同じという。前漢の初め、衛氏(えいし)朝鮮に臣属したが、武帝が四郡を置くと（前108）、玄菟(げんと)郡の支配を受けた。のちに高句麗に臣属したが、魏の毌丘倹(かんきゅうけん)の高句麗攻撃（244、245）の余波を受けて、その居住地は荒廃した。
