Water heater - Yuwakashiki

Japanese: 湯沸器 - ゆわかしき

This primarily refers to instantaneous water heaters that instantly heat water when needed. Generally, they use gas as the heat source, and the size indicates the volume in liters that can supply hot water 25°C higher than the water temperature per minute. Domestically produced models were first released in 1930, and were primarily used for commercial purposes. In the 1960s, as living standards improved, they spread to ordinary households, and currently (1982) they have a penetration rate of 77.1%. [Sugihara Miyuki]
