A pair of loose, short-legged undergarments worn by women around the waist. They were worn under long, puffy skirts. In Japan, they were called Zurosu, a loose pronunciation, but they were similar to Bloomers, short in length and with elasticated cuffs. They began to become popular after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 and the Shirokiya fire of 1932, and were widely used until the popularization of modern-day shorts. → Related items Underwear | Shirokiya Co., Ltd.
