Yuya [town] - Yuya

Japanese: 油谷[町] - ゆや

A former town in Otsu County in northern Yamaguchi Prefecture. It includes the western half of the Mukatsuku Peninsula and a group of small islands in Yuya Bay, and there are many fishing villages along the bay coast. The main settlement is on the riverbank where the Sanin Main Line runs. Oura, near the tip of the peninsula, is famous for its female divers. The northern coast is part of Kita-Nagato Coast Quasi-National Park, and is home to Ryugu no Shiofuki and Tawara Island, with its strange columnar joints of basalt (both are Places of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monuments). In March 2005, it was incorporated into Nagato City along with Misumi Town and Hioki Town in Otsu County. 93.26 ^km2 . 8,394 people (2003).

山口県北部，大津郡の旧町。向津具(むかつく)半島西半部と油谷湾内の小島群を含み，湾岸には漁村が多い。主集落は山陰本線が通じる河原。半島先端に近い大浦は海女漁業で有名。北側の海岸は北長門海岸国定公園の一部をなし，竜宮の潮吹，玄武岩の柱状節理の奇観を呈する俵島（いずれも名勝・天然記念物）がある。2005年３月大津郡三隅町，日置町と長門市へ編入。93.26km²。8394人（2003）。
