Yunomineshida - Yunomineshida

Japanese: ユノミネシダ - ゆのみねしだ

A perennial fern of the Acanthaceae family. It is evergreen, but the above-ground parts die when hit by frost. It has long rhizomes that creep from underground to the surface, and often form colonies. The rhizomes and petioles have narrow scales at the base, but the rest of the plant is bare. The leaves are large, reaching 2m in length in warm areas. The petioles, rachises, and rachises are reddish-brown and glossy. The leaf surface is bipinnately deeply lobed to tripinnately compound, herbaceous, with a bright to dark green upper leaf surface and a whitish-green underside, and the margins of the lobes roll slightly on the underside. The sporangia grow in association with the leaf margins and are enclosed by a folded leaf margin called a pseudotheca.

コバノイシカグマ科の多年生シダ植物。常緑性であるが，霜にうたれると地上部は枯れる。地下から地表部に長くはう根茎があり，群落を作ることが多い。根茎と葉柄の基部には狭い鱗片があるが，その他の部分は裸出する。葉は大型で，暖地では長さ2mに達する。葉柄や葉軸･羽軸は赤褐色で，光沢がある。葉面は2回羽状深裂から3回羽状複生，草質，葉の表は鮮緑色から濃緑色，裏面は白緑色で，裂片の辺縁はわずかに裏面に巻く。胞子囊群は葉縁に連生し，偽包膜とよばれる折れまがった葉縁で包まれる。
