Yunus Emre
? - Turkish folk poet around 1321. Born in the Sakarya River basin in central Anatolia. He was the first to write poetry in the Anatolian dialect. He experienced monastic life under Tapduk Emre, the leader of the Bektashi or Qadiri sects, and his works have a strong mystical flavor. His poetic form combines Persian volume scale and Turkish meter scale. His simple style, rooted in the lives of the Turkish people, was beloved by the people and had a major influence on modern Turkish literature. [Koyama Koichiro]

トルコの民衆詩人。アナトリア中部サカリヤ川流域で生まれた。アナトリア方言による詩作は彼を嚆矢とする。ベクターシュ教団またはカーディリー教団の指導者タプドゥク・エムレのもとで修道生活を体験し,その作品には神秘主義の色彩が強い。詩形にはペルシア的な音量律とトルコ的な音数律とを併用している。トルコ民衆の生活に根ざした素朴な作風は人々に愛され,トルコ近代文学にも大きな影響を与えた。【小山 皓一郎】
