A tea master from the Muromachi period. Founder of the Yabunai school of tea ceremony. Childhood name Kusuke. Given name Soin. Also known as Shochi, Yabunaisai, Soin, and En'an. A native of Amagasaki, Settsu. Adopted by the well-known tea master Yabu (Yabunai) Soha, he inherited the Yabunai family name. Became a disciple of Takeno Jōō, and was given one character of his name, giving him the name Shochi. Around 1580 (Tenshō 8), he moved from Amagasaki to Shichiku, Kyoto, and studied Zen under Shun'yaku Soen at Daitoku-ji Temple. After Jōō's death, he was taught by Rikyu, and was presented with an Unkyaku plaque and tea utensils. He married the younger sister of Furuta Oribe, a feudal lord and tea master. After Rikyu's death, he served Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but is said to have resigned shortly thereafter. In 1595, he was given the title of Kenchu ​​by Haruya and moved to Kamikyo. Later, he was given the tea room Tsubame-an, which was Oribe's favorite and had a three-tatami-mat dining area with a dining table. His tea utensils include the Tozan Imperial Treasure's bronze elephant ear vase "Hime-uri", the "Nanban woolen woven water jar", Tsubame-an's specialty "hammered kettle", and the "Oribe calendar tea bowl". His calligraphy remains include "table remains" and "table paintings", and his own tea utensils include a bamboo single-layer cut vase and a bamboo tea scoop. 室町時代の茶人。茶道藪内流の祖。幼名九助。諱 は宗胤。紹智,藪中斎,宗胤,燕庵と号した。摂津尼崎の人。茶人として知られた藪(藪内)宗巴の養子となり,藪内家を継ぐ。武野紹鴎の弟子となり,一字を譲られて紹智と名乗った。天正8(1580)年ごろ,尼崎から京都紫竹に居を移して大徳寺の春屋宗園に参禅。紹鴎没後,利休に皆伝を得,雲脚の扁額や茶道具を贈られた。大名茶人であった古田織部の妹と結婚。利休の没後には豊臣秀吉に出仕したが,ほどなく辞したと伝える。文禄4(1595)年春屋から剣仲の号を得,上京に居を移す。のち三畳台目に相伴席がついた織部好みの茶室燕庵を譲られた。所持の茶道具に東山御物の唐銅象耳花入「姫瓜」,「南蛮毛織抱桶水指」,燕庵名物の「金槌釜」,「織部暦手茶碗」などが,遺墨として「台跡」「台子ノ画」,自作の茶道具に竹一重切花入,竹茶杓など残る。紹智の名が代々継がれ,平成期に13代におよぶ。<参考文献>『茶道の源流』全6巻
