One theory is that his real father was Lü Buwei, the Grand Jia of Yangdi. When King Zhuangxiang was living in Zhao as a hostage, Lü Buwei presented his concubine to King Zhuangxiang, but she was already pregnant. Zheng was born in Handan, the capital of Zhao, and became King of Qin at the age of 13 after King Zhuangxiang's death. At first, he entrusted state affairs to Lü Buwei as his prime minister, but in the 10th year of his reign, he removed him because of his involvement in the Lao Du incident, and then placed the Legalist Li Si in a favorable position. …
