A town in Inukami County in eastern Shiga Prefecture. It stretches from the Koto Plain to the western slope of the Suzuka Mountains. The central settlement developed as a town in front of the shrine gate of Taga Taisha Shrine, and is served by the Omi Railway Taga Line. The town produces rice and forest products. There are textile and beer factories, and the mountainous area is rich in limestone, so there is a cement factory. Area: 135.77 km2 . Population: 7,761 (2010).

滋賀県東部，犬上(いぬかみ)郡の町。湖東平野から鈴鹿山脈の西斜面までを含める。中心集落は多賀大社の鳥居前町として発達，近江(おうみ)鉄道多賀線が通じる。米，林産物を産する。繊維，ビールの工場が立地，山地は石灰岩が多く，セメント工場がある。135.77km2。7761人（2010）。
