A town in Inukami County in eastern Shiga Prefecture. It stretches from the Koto Plain to the western slope of the Suzuka Mountains. The central settlement developed as a town in front of the shrine gate of Taga Taisha Shrine, and is served by the Omi Railway Taga Line. The town produces rice and forest products. There are textile and beer factories, and the mountainous area is rich in limestone, so there is a cement factory. Area: 135.77 km2 .
