A kana zoshi (traditional Japanese story). Author unknown. Published in 1643 (Kan'ei 20). 1 volume. Also known as "The Tale of Fukusai," "The Tale of the Mouse," and "The Tale of the Kan'ei Famine." When a doctor named Fukusai attends a wake at Inaba-do, the twelve Yakushi gods are discussing the famine that occurred throughout the country from Kan'ei 18 to 19, and Yakushi appears and explains that it is human arrogance that is the cause, concluding that people should take steps to avoid being hated by the way of heaven. As a record of his observations, the situation of the Kan'ei famine is described in detail. [Noda Hisao] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
