A species of bird in the passerine family Hirundinidae, or a general term for birds in the family Hirundinidae. The white-breasted wood-swallow Artamus leucorhynchus (illustration) is about 17 cm long. The back of the bird, except for the head, neck and lower back, is gray-black, the back is slightly brown, and the lower back, upper tail coverts and underside below the chest are white. Sexes are the same color. The beak is strong, bluish-white at the base and black at the tip. The legs are bluish-gray. It is found from the Malay Archipelago and the Philippines to Australia, New Caledonia and the Fiji Islands.
