Masatake Morita

Masatake Morita
Born January 13, 1874 in Kochi
[Died] 1938. Tokyo psychiatrist. Founder of Morita therapy. Although he was sickly as a child, he recovered from illness during high school and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tokyo Imperial University. He aspired to become a psychiatrist, and at the age of 28 became a professor at the Jikei Medical College. He is famous for Morita therapy and neurotic theory, but also made outstanding achievements in the treatment of prayer psychosis (caused by religious services, etc.), delusions of jealousy, and hypnosis.
