...There is only one manuscript of this work, which is kept at the National Library of Paris. Since Walter Pater, in his book "Renaissance" (1873), featured this work together with the 13th century French work "Amis et Amil" as a pioneering work of the Renaissance, it has attracted widespread public interest and was introduced to Japan early on (Hirata Tokiki's impressions of "The Prince of Aucassin" were first published in the 16th issue of "Bungakukai" in 1894), and several Japanese translations have been published.
