Meghadūta (English spelling)

An Indian Sanskrit lyric poem. The Japanese translation is "The Messenger of the Clouds." Written by the poet Kalidasa in the 4th or 5th century. A poem of love that a Yaksha (attendant of the god Kubera) living in exile in central India sends to his wife, who he left behind at the foot of the Himalayas, entrusting her to the passing clouds.
