A former town in Mugi County, central Gifu Prefecture. Located in Mugi Valley along the Mugi River, west of Mino City, the town is known for its paper manufacturing industry, as well as knife processing, machinery and woodworking. In February 2005, it was incorporated into Seki City along with Mugi Town, Horado Village, Itadori Village, and Kaminoho Village in Mugi County. Area: 28.31 km2 . Population: 6,695 (2003).
