Ryusa Konishi

Japanese:
Ryusa Konishi

He was a senior vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and was known as the magistrate of Sakai, and also as a Christian. His sons, Josei (date of birth and death unknown) and Yukinaga, were both Christians, and are often mentioned in church historical documents. The origins of "Ryuusa" are unclear, and there are no handwritten documents, so it cannot be determined whether he was called "Ryuusa" or "Ryuusa". However, it is known that he became a Christian early on, and that his religious name was "Jochin" (Jochin). He was favored by Hideyoshi, and mainly handled finances. He died of an illness in Kyoto at the end of September in Tensho 20 (around the end of October or November 1, 1592). Josei succeeded him as magistrate of Sakai.
