Minamoto no Yorinobu

Japanese:
Minamoto no Yorinobu

A military commander in the mid-Heian period. He was the third son of Mitsunaka and a member of the Seiwa Genji clan. He served as a capital official such as Jibugon no Shofu (Jibugon no Shofu) and Saemon no Kami (Left Horse Chief), and also served as a governor of various provinces such as Ise, Mutsu, Mino, Iwami, Kozuke, and Hitachi. He was also known for being a military commander, having been made the commander of the Chinjufu (Naval Base). Meanwhile, in Kyoto, like his brother Raiko, he served the Sekkanke (regent family), and was particularly well-liked by Fujiwara no Michinaga. In 1028 (Chogen 1), when Kazusa no Suke Taira Tadatsune rebelled, the punitive envoy Taira Naokata was not successful, so Yorinobu, who was the governor of Kai, was sent in his place, and Tadatsune surrendered without a fight. After serving as Kawachi no Kami, Yorinobu established his base in Tsuboi Village, Furuichi County, Kawachi Province (Habikino City, Osaka Prefecture), and became the ancestor of the Kawachi Genji clan. Currently, Yorinobu's grave is located in a vineyard on the hills southeast of the Tsuhoji Temple ruins.
