Republic of South Maluku

Following the Hague Round Table Conference in December 1949, sovereignty was handed over from the Netherlands to Indonesia, and Indonesia became independent in both name and reality (Hague Agreement), but afterwards, some pro-Dutch soldiers, particularly former Dutch East Indies soldiers, refused to be incorporated into the republic and started rebellions on the islands of Sulawesi and Ambon in the Maluku (Malk) Islands. Of these, the area centered on Ambon had traditionally been the main birthplace of colonial soldiers, so since April 1950, an anti-central government movement has been underway with the aim of establishing the "South Maluku Republic Republik Maluku Selatan," while many people have emigrated to the Netherlands.

1949年12月にハーグ円卓会議を経て，オランダからインドネシアへの主権委譲が行われ，インドネシアは名実ともに独立した(ハーグ協定)が，その後，親オランダ的な将兵，とくに旧蘭印軍兵士の一部は，スラウェシ島やモルッカ(マルク)諸島のアンボン島で，共和国への編入を拒否して反乱を起こした。このうち，アンボンを中心とする地域は伝統的に植民地軍兵士の主要な出身地であったため，50年4月以来，〈南マルク共和国Republik Maluku Selatan〉の樹立をめざして反中央政府の運動を展開する一方，多数の人々がオランダ本国へ移住した。
