A perennial climbing plant of the legume family found on mountain forest edges (illustration). The leaves are alternate on the stem, compound with 3 leaflets and stipules at the base. The leaflets are thin and glabrous on the upper surface, while the underside is greenish-white with sparse short hairs that lie down. The terminal leaflet is oblong, 3-15 cm long and 2-6 cm wide. The flowers are pale yellow, butterfly-shaped, 15-20 mm long, and bloom in August and September in clusters growing from the leaf axils. The calyx lobes are barely noticeable.
