Minato Ohashi Bridge

Japanese: 港大橋 - みなとおおはし

This steel road bridge connects Kaigan-dori Street in Minato Ward, Osaka City with the Nanko area. It is a cantilever truss structure with a bridge length of 980m and a central span length of 510m, the third longest in the world for this type of bridge. It was completed in 1974. It is a two-story bridge with the upper floor used for the Hanshin Expressway Bayshore Line and the lower floor for general roads. Because of the large design load, extra-thick plates of high-tensile steel with tensile strengths of 70kgf/mm2 and 80kgf/mm2, which had little experience of use at the time, were made to special specifications and used for the components that would bear the large forces.

大阪市港区海岸通りと南港地区を結ぶ鋼道路橋。橋長980mのカンチレバートラス構造で，この形式の橋としては世界第3位の510mの中央径間長を有する。1974年完成。上階を阪神高速道路湾岸線，下階を一般道路に供する2階構造の橋である。設計荷重が大きいため，当時まだ使用実績が少なかった引張強さ70kgf/mm2および80kgf/mm2級の高張力鋼の極厚板材を特別の仕様によって作り，大きな力を受ける部材に用いた。
