Three Thousand Years Old - Michitose
1813-1884 A prostitute in the late Edo period.
Born in 1817. Her real name was Nawo. She started out as a tea maiden in Asakusa, Edo, before becoming a prostitute in Shin Yoshiwara. She took the body of her executed lover, Kataoka Naojiro, and built a grave for him. She is famous for being adapted into storytelling pieces such as "Tenpo Rokkasen" by Shorin Hakuen II and "Kabuki play "Kumonimago Ueno Hatsuhana" by Kawatake Mokuami. She passed away on August 31, 1884, at the age of 72.

文化10年生まれ。本名なを。江戸浅草の茶くみ女から新吉原の遊女となる。処刑された情人の片岡直次郎の死骸をひきとり,墓をたてた。2代松林(しょうりん)伯円の講談「天保六花撰(てんぽうろっかせん)」,河竹黙阿弥(もくあみ)の歌舞伎「天衣紛上野初花(くもにまごううえののはつはな)」などに脚色されて有名。明治17年8月31日死去。72歳。
