A former town in Kibi District, southern Okayama Prefecture. The town's name comes from Kibinomakibi. It occupies the Oda River basin, a tributary of the Takahashi River, and is famous for its rice and floriculture, with bamboo shoots being a specialty. Grapes and peaches are grown in the hills. In recent years, the area has been developed into residential areas. Otsuka Kofun (historic site) is located in Yata.
