It is a member of the Felidae family in the carnivora order. It is slightly larger than a domestic cat, with a body length of 45-60 cm and a tail length of 23-30 cm. Its fur is slightly long and gray-yellow. It has several brown horizontal lines on the back and black stripes on its cheeks. The tips of its ears are rounded, and the fur on both sides of its face is remarkably long. It has two pairs of premolars, one above the other. It is nocturnal. It preys on small rodents such as voles and mice, and small mammals such as pikas. It is found in southern Siberia, Mongolia, and Kashmir, and lives in forests and grasslands.
