〘Noun〙 (also "Utazekkyo") From the Kanbun to Genroku eras ( 1661-1704 ) in the Edo period, this is a type of storytelling that explains Buddhist causality in a catchy manner accompanied by shamisen. 〘名〙 (「うたぜっきょう」とも) 江戸時代、寛文～元祿（一六六一‐一七〇四）にかけて、三味線に合わせて節おもしろく仏教の因果を説いた語り物。操り人形と提携して芝居興行をはじめた説教とは別で、人形と結びつかずそれだけで語られた比較的短いもの。※評判記・役者評判蚰蜒（1674）ゑびすや座惣論「三左や五郎がうたせっきゃう、のほほんよほほんある物でなし」
