Born: June 18, 1868, Kenderes [Died] February 9, 1957. Hungarian admiral and politician. In 1900 he was a naval officer in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and in 1918 he became an admiral. In 1919 he formed the "National Army" to oppose the Béla Kun Revolution, and became Minister of Defense in the right-wing government established in Szeged. From 1920 to 1944 he served as regent for the reconstituted Kingdom of Hungary, and used the Arrow Cross Party to implement a dictatorship, and in foreign affairs he joined the Axis powers. At the end of World War II he tried to negotiate a ceasefire, but failed due to the machinations of the Arrow Cross Party, and after the war he went into exile in Portugal.
