Ho Dynasty - Ho Dynasty (English spelling)

Japanese: ホー朝 - ホーちょう（英語表記）Ho

A short-lived dynasty (1400-07) in the early 15th century in Vietnam. The Ho dynasty was founded by Ho Quy Ly, a maternal relative of the Tran dynasty's courtiers, but was destroyed by the Ming Dynasty during the reign of the next ruler, Han Tong. However, it has great significance in the history of Vietnam. The Tran dynasty adopted a system of fiefdoms for the clan and inherited the decentralized system of power that had existed since the Su Quan Dynasty (the Envoys), but from the 14th century onwards, bureaucrats with different surnames who had passed the imperial examinations gradually made their way to the centre, and Ho Quy Ly used this new group of bureaucrats as a base to implement various centralizing policies.

15世紀初頭のベトナムの短命王朝(1400‐07)。ホー(胡)朝はチャン(陳)朝の宮室の外戚ホー･クイ･リ(胡季犛)が創始したが，次代ハン･トゥオン(漢蒼)のとき明に攻められて滅亡した。しかしベトナム史上の意味は大きい。チャン朝は一族の分封制をとってスークアン(使君)以来の地方分権制を継承したが，14世紀以降，科挙出身の異姓官僚がしだいに中央進出を果たし，ホー･クイ･リはこの新官僚群を基盤として，種々の集権策をとった。
