A general term for protozoa of the class Sporozoa. They are parasitic and obtain nutrients from the host through the body surface. In addition to asexual reproduction by division, they also reproduce sexually to form spores that infect new hosts. Examples include malaria parasites, Gregarina, and Piroplasma.
