Benzidine copper acetate test

A simple method for detecting hydrogen cyanide. Filter paper is soaked in a benzidine acetate solution, then dried, then soaked in an acetic acid solution, placed in a brown bottle and dried to create benzidine copper acetate test paper. When this test paper comes into contact with hydrogen cyanide, it turns blue, allowing hydrogen cyanide to be detected. However, chlorine, bromine, chloropicrin, etc. also turn the paper blue, so a confirmation test for hydrogen cyanide is required. [Hyuga Miho]

シアン化水素の簡易検出法。ろ紙をベンジジン酢酸溶液に浸してから乾燥させ，ついで酢酸溶液につけ，褐色瓶に入れて乾燥し，ベンジジン酢酸銅試験紙をつくる。この試験紙がシアン化水素に触れると青色に変わるのでシアン化水素が検出できる。ただし，塩素，臭素，クロルピクリンなどでも青色になるので，シアン化水素の確認試験が必要。【日向実保】
