Around 1170 - 1239 He was the fourth Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights. Elected in 1209, he transferred the Teutonic Knights from the Holy Land to Transylvania, but after a failed attempt there, he received the Golden Bull from Frederick II in Rimini in 1226, laying the legal foundation for their activities in Prussia. In 1230, he mediated between the conflicting emperor and pope at Ceprano, securing the Teutonic Knights' position in Prussia.
