An ancient port located on Eigashima in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture. One of the Gohaku. The coastal erosion was apparently severe, and repairs and collapses were repeated. According to Miyoshi Kiyoyuki's "Ikenfuji Junikajo," it was built during the Tenpyo era (729-749), survived until the end of the Enryaku era (782-806), collapsed during the Konin era (810-824), and repaired during the Tencho era (824-834) (as seen in the Ruiju Sandai Kaku, an official document dated May 11, 9th year of Tencho), collapsed again at the end of the Jowa era (834-848), and repairs began in the early Jogan era (859-877) (as seen in the same official document dated March 27th, 9th year of Jogan), but was never completed. Afterwards, monks such as Chogen, Chosei, and Seikai repaired the temple. The legend that it was built during the Tenpyo period is based on a legend attributed to Gyoki, but it is not clear when it first existed.
