[raw]? [Died] c. 737. Cangas. First king of the Kingdom of Asturias (reigned c. 718-c. 737). Visigothic prince. Legendary figure who became king after the Arab conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. Defeated the Muslims at Covadonga (718) and became a symbol of the Christian Reconquest of Spain in medieval times.
