A book in the New Testament. Many authors have been suggested, including Paul, Clement of Rome, Barnabas, and Apollos of Alexandria, but it is only assumed that he was a Christian of Jewish origin. While contrasting the Old Testament (especially the Psalms) with the New Testament, it states the superiority of Christianity over Judaism based on the superiority of the unique high priest Christ of the New Testament over the imperfect priests of the Old Testament, and preaches unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God who appeared as the fulfillment of the salvation prophesied in the Old Testament, rejecting disobedience, loving one's brothers, enduring hardships, doing good deeds, and fulfilling righteousness. It is believed to have been written in the latter half of the 1st century.
