1920‐95 Italian pianist. Graduated from the Milan Conservatory, he won first place at the Geneva International Competition in 1939. In 1946, after the Second World War, he performed in England and France and distinguished himself. He strictly limited the number of performances he performed per year and had an extreme aversion to recording, and held beliefs that differ from those of the majority of modern pianists. However, he has many fans and has gained fame as a solitary performer. He has an extraordinary passion for the pursuit of a clear sound. He first visited Japan in 1965.
